Scissortail Park

Scissortail Park is one of the clearest signs of how much central Oklahoma City has changed. Stretching through the downtown area, the park provides lawns, gardens, walking paths and event spaces where there was once a much less inviting urban landscape.

For visitors, it is less about a single must-see attraction and more about having somewhere pleasant to slow down. After museums, driving and city streets, a walk through the park can be exactly what you need.

Combine it with downtown

The location makes Scissortail easy to include in a day around central Oklahoma City. It sits close to the convention centre and connects naturally with other parts of the redeveloped downtown area.

Events, concerts and seasonal activities can change the character of the park completely, so it is worth checking what is happening during your visit. On an ordinary day, though, you can simply walk, sit down and enjoy a bit of space.

See the newer Oklahoma City

Historic Western culture is an important part of Oklahoma, but Scissortail Park represents the modern city just as well. It is ambitious, family-friendly and designed to make downtown somewhere people spend time rather than simply pass through.
