Where you stay in Oklahoma City depends more on your plans than on finding one universally “best” neighbourhood. The city is spread out, so choosing a convenient base can save a surprising amount of driving.
For a first visit focused on central attractions, Downtown, Bricktown and Midtown are the three areas I would look at first.
Downtown and Bricktown
Downtown puts you close to major attractions, the streetcar and the convention centre. Bricktown adds restaurants, entertainment and a more obvious visitor atmosphere. Both are practical if you want to minimise driving during evenings.
Midtown
Midtown is my alternative if you prefer restaurants, bars and a neighbourhood feel while remaining close to the centre. It is convenient for Automobile Alley and other central districts and can feel less tourist-oriented than Bricktown.
What if you have a car?
If Oklahoma City is one stop on a road trip, your options widen considerably. Hotels away from downtown can offer easier parking and quick access to highways, although you sacrifice the ability to walk out for dinner or use the streetcar.
I would choose location before comparing individual hotels. Decide whether your priority is nightlife, attractions, business, easy parking or quick highway access. Once you know that, Oklahoma City’s accommodation choices become much easier to narrow down.
